REDDITCH parks are flying the flag as some of the best green spaces in the country after receiving the prestigious Green Flag Award.

Arrow Valley Country Park, Morton Stanley Park and Overdale Park, run by Redditch Borough Council, were all given the award which is the benchmark for national standard parks and green areas in the UK.

They joined the record number of 1,424 spots which received the award this year.

Coun Luke Stephens, responsible for leisure on Redditch Borough Council, said: "For three of our parks to have been judged as among the best in the country and worthy of the Green Flag Award is an incredible achievement.

"The council's parks and open spaces team and other colleagues have worked really hard to improve the parks and deserve recognition for their contribution."
