A MAN was arrested after a woman was attacked in the street.

The victim, in her 20s, was assaulted by a man in Hewell Road about 8am on Tuesday (July 17) and although it started on the pavement it continued on the road for a short time before both walked off in different directions.

A man was arrested on the evening on suspicion of assault and was questioned at Redditch Police Station.

Officers understand the victim knew her attacker. Although the woman was not injured she was left very distressed.

PC Paul Cook said: "The spot where this happened was close to a bus stop near the junction with Bridley Moor Road and we believe a Diamond bus was there at the time. It is important we speak to anyone on that bus who may have witnessed any part of the incident."

Anyone with any information should contact PC Cook on 101, quoting the reference 98-S-170712 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
