THE JUMP ROPE UK members have just returned from Washington DC after a very successful World Championship held at the George Washington University.

The girls - Beci Dale, Rachael Dale, Lauren Shepherd, Laura Summers, Stacie Pegg and Gemma McGhee - all came back with medals from the heats which were held on July 5 and 7, which qualified them to compete in the Grand Finals on July 8.

In the Grand Finals the Studley-based stars all won second and or third placed Crystal trophies for various events and a gold medal in the Double Dutch speed event.

Following the four days of competition the girls took part in the camp for three days and during this time there were Coaches Clinics available for any parents or coaches of all the teams and countries competing, varying from health presentations to specialised events for competition.

Rachael from Jump Rope UK was asked to hold two of these presentations on single rope speed and Double Dutch speed, as well as teaching in the camp, and these presentations will be available on the World Jump Rope website at www.worldjumprope.org.

The girls were also lucky enough to be there on July 4 where they stood on Capital Hill to watch the fireworks amongst thousands of people.

The trip to America was an amazing experience for all the girls and they are looking forward to going back next year, but this time it will be in Orlando, Florida, so the fund-raising begins now!

Beci, Rachael, Laura and Gemma are now preparing for the rest of their Olympic Jump Rope Team to arrive to start training for their performances in London next week.

A pub quiz is being staged tomorrow (Saturday, July 21) to help fund raise for the club. The Get Tricky International team will be there, with representatives from America, Belgium and Brazil, so if you would like to meet the team before they head off to the Olympics come and join them at the Studley Sports & Social Club, Eldorado Close.

Doors open at 7.30pm and admission is £2 per person with a maximum of six people per team.

For more information on Jump Rope UK you can log on to www.jumpruk.com or call Sue Dale on 01527 854194, whilst you can also follow them on Twitter @JumpRopeUK.

You can also follow the GET TRICKY team at the Olympics via Jump Rope UK's Facebook page or on Twitter @GetTricky_12.
