A SEARCH lasting several hours took place after burglars targeted a town centre pub.
An unknown quantity of cash was stolen and gaming machines attacked during the break-in at The Royal Enfield pub on Unicorn Hill.
Police were alerted about 4.24am on Monday (July 16) when burglar alarms were set off.
It was thought one of the burglars might still be hiding on the premises when officers first arrived so due to the nature and layout of the former cinema building, the fire service was called to provide technical support and advice so police could carry out a thorough search.
It was later established two offenders had already left the scene and CCTV footage is now being studied.
Anyone with any information should call Sgt Gary Mole on 101, quoting incident number 67-S-160712, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
