Hi: 14° Lo:3° 7 day

THERE was yet another washout of the local cricketing scene on Saturday as the dismal summer weather continued.
Redditch, Astwood Bank, Feckenham and Alvechurch all saw their Worcestershire League matches abandoned without a ball being bowled, whilst Studley suffered the same fate in Birmingham League Division Three.
Prospects of play this weekend appear better, although clubs are still facing races against time to get their pitches playable after the saturated states they have been left in.
Amongst the clubs in this position are Redditch, where groundsman Ashley Freeman has been working all hours to remove gallons of water from the surface.
In certain parts of the outfield the grass has been ruined by the incessant amount of rain, but the Kingfishers are hoping to be able to get the second team match against Worcester Dominies on.
First team captain Luke Davis has a full strength team to take to Oldswinford as his side go in search of a first victory since early June, the 3rds host Netherton and the 4ths visit Kempsey.
On Sunday Redditch 1sts did manage to play as they visited Worcester, but it was the hosts who eased to an emphatic seven-wicket victory.
All-rounder Greg Chinn was the pick of the Kingfishers' players as he hit a season's best score of 63 as Redditch made 157 all out.
Worcester's overseas star Jeff Case carried his bat in scoring 89 as Worcester reached their target with seven overs to spare.
