A REDDITCH based firm is to help provide driving tests under plans announced by the Government.
Halfords, which has its head office in Icknield Street Drive, has been selected to provide alternative locations where tests can be carried in areas where a traditional test centre is not available.
The scheme will focus on 21 locations around the country including Kidderminster, Droitwich and Bromsgrove and testing is due to begin from the Autumn. Tests will continue to be conducted by DSA examiners and apply only to practical car tests, theory test centres will not be affected.
Road safety minister Mike Penning said: "Our aim is to provide all driving test candidates with a local service that is convenient as well as being cost effective."
