Another frustrating washout

THE weather yet again decimated the local cricket programme on Saturday with the majority of matches in both the Birmingham League and the Worcestershire County League abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Studley were unable to ease their Birmingham League Division Three relegation fears as their home clash against Penn fell victim to the heavy rain.

Studley enjoy home advantage again this Saturday when they are, weather permitting, scheduled to entertain Aston Manor.

Rain also put paid to the eargley anticipated Worcestershire League Division One local derby between Asatopd Bank and Redditch.

Second placed Bank lost further ground on leaders Pershore who did manage to play some cricket against Coombes Wood.

A 25-over a side clash started at 4.55pm and Coombs Wood were dismissed for just 112 thanks to Luke Dally who returned a fine seven wicket haul.

Further rain reduced Pershore’s reply to just 15 overs and they closed on 46 for 6 but the nine points they picked up put them ten points clear at the top.

Astwood Bank visit Coombs Wood this Saturday, while Redditch entertain Worcester Nomads.

Alvechurch & Hopwood were also left kicking their heels in frustration after their Division Two home game against Worcester Dominies & Guild was washed out.

Alvechurch will be eager to return to action when they travel to rock-bottom Wormelow this Saturday.
