Inquest opened after bridge death

AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a man who fell from a bridge over the Bromsgrove Highway.

Richard Need, of Marlpool Drive, was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics after the incident on the A448 at 3pm on Monday (July 9).

The 46-year-old’s death is being treated as unexplained and the carriageway remained closed on both sides between Batchley and the turning to the Warwick Highway for most of the afternoon. His inquest was opened at Worcestershire Coroners’ Court yesterday (Thursday) and adjourned awaiting reports.
