RESILIENT Redditch Golf Club members and their guests battled the elements to support the Captain's Charity Golf Day.

So far the event has raised over £6,000 but this is expected to more than double by the end of the year.

This year's club captain Chris Fanning has chosen to support the Alzheimer's Society, along with the club's Centenary Fund, which will receive 15 per cent of all monies raised.

The captain of the Callow Hill club said: "The Alzheimer's Society is the leading care and research chartiy for people with dementia and their carers and I am proud that Redditch Golf Club is supporting its work in my year as club captain."

Redditch Golf Club was founded in 1913 and the Centenary Committee is working on a programme of events that will mark the club's 100 years with a special project which will be enjoyed by members for years to come.

This year, after 99 years, the club opened its doors for the first time to businesses and now has one of the most competitively priced corporate membership packages available in the UK.
