A REDDITCH band will share the stage with world-famous acts as they appear at the Isle of Wight Festival tomorrow (Saturday).

Sugar Mama have been invited to play at the prestigious festival alongside artists including Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Noel Gallagher.

Having formed in the summer of 2009, the band which includes Sam Anderson on lead vocals and guitar, Rob Smith on bass and Scott Dolphin on drums have played gigs around Worcestershire and beyond for the last three years.

They describe their music as a mix of blues and rock and roll, playing a mixture of original songs and covers influenced by artists including The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, The Who and Led Zeppelin.

Manager Tony Gibbon from Backstage Promotions, based in Worcester, said: “The band have worked so hard over the last couple of years and thoroughly deserve this recognition.

“The festival will be a perfect launch pad for the band’s new material which will be released at the end of the summer.

“Never giving a clean, polished reproduction of their repertoire, these three musicians know each other’s musical characters like the back of their hands and it is this quality which gives them their rare charm of making every live performance spontaneous and unique.”
