YOUNG people have been urged to be on their guard after two reports of girls being spoken to inappropriately.
Police received reports two girls aged ten and 12 had been spoken to by two white men in a silver coloured van in Lakeside in two separate incidents between 8pm and 8.30pm on Sunday (June 10).
A police spokesman said: “No offences were disclosed on either occasion. There was no physical contact between the men and the girls involved and no attempt was made to get them into the vehicle.
“The girls should be praised for the responsible manner in which they reacted. They did not engage with the men and left the scene immediately to inform their parents, after which the police were contacted. We would encourage any other young people approached like this to do the same.
“Suspicious activity like this should always be reported to the police as soon as possible.”
