A HEADLESS Cross couple received a surprise wedding anniversary present when three international football stars turned up to join in their celebrations.
Christine and Robert chambers were on holiday in Rovinj in Croatia to mark their 25th wedding anniversary and had not realised they were staying in the same hotel as the Croatian national team, which were preparing ahead of Euro 2012 which the team exited this week after being beaten by Spain.
And unbeknown to them staff had arranged for Tottenham Hotspur superstar Luka Modric and former White Hart Lane favourites Niko Kranjcer and Vedran Corluka to surprise them with flowers and a word of congratulations. The team even signed a Croatian national shirt for them.
Robert, who has been a Tottenham fan since the age of five, said: "It was great. I asked Modric if he was staying at Tottenham but he wouldn't tell me."
Christine, a Manchester United fan, added: "It made his holiday. They were all very friendly."
