Hi: 10° Lo:4° 7 day

SAT NAVS and a brief case were among items stolen in a spate of overnight thefts of valuables left in vehicles.
Six incidents were reported to police on Monday (June 18) in the Headless Cross and Crabbs Cross areas of town, some of which were from cars parked on driveways.
The thefts included four reports of Tom Tom sat navs stolen from glove compartments or under the seats of vehicles parked outside houses on Malvern Road, Stonepits Lane, The Meadway, and Evesham Road.
The theft of a briefcase containing various documents from a car parked in Jordans Close and theft of a wallet and other personal belongings from another vehicle on The Meadway were also reported.
PC Simon Worley said it was believed most of these offences were linked, adding some of the vehicles had been left unlocked by the owners but those which were locked had no obvious sign of a break-in.
"It is imperative that owners remove all valuables including sat navs, laptops, mobile phones and handbags from vehicles whenever they leave them unattended, even if it is only for a couple of minutes.
"Never hide them in the glove box, in the boot or under the seat and sat nav owners should also remove tell-tale suction marks from cradle mountings.
"It does not take long for a vehicle owner to lock their car door, and is not much effort for them to take a sat nav or other property with them."
