A WOMAN has died after being involved in a collision with a car.
The woman, a pedestrian in her 60s, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after being airlifted there with leg injuries.
The driver of a black Ford Focus, believed to be in her 30s, was uninjured. The car was travelling southbound at the time of the incident on Monday (May 21) at 3.30pm on the A435 Alcester Road near the Branson's Cross pub.
A Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham and Cosford, with an emergency doctor on board, attended the scene along with an ambulance.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance service said: “When crews arrived they found a woman receiving excellent CPR by police and an off duty nurse. The woman was in cardiac arrest and had multiple serious injuries.
“Crews and the medics worked as a team to resuscitate her at the roadside. The driver of the car was visibly shaken but uninjured."
PC Paul Cooper of West Mercia Police said: "A woman tragically lost her life yesterday and our thoughts are with her family at this sad time.
"An investigation has been launched into how and why this collision occurred, and we are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact us on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident reference 489-S-210512."
The A435 was closed from the M42 junction to the area around Branson's Cross until about 7.30pm.
