METAL thieves stole copper cabling worth £3,000 after smashing through the wall of a firm on an industrial estate.
The raid happened on the Riverside Industrial Estate in Meir Road sometime between 8.15pm on Monday (April 30) and 7am the following day. Staff arrived at the company to discover thieves had used a sledgehammer or similar tool to break through a wall, causing around £2,000 worth of damage.
They then took the grey copper cabling which was wound on to wooden reels.
PC Ian Squires, of West Mercia Police, said: "They must have caused a fair bit of noise breaking in and used a vehicle to remove their haul. We would appeal to anyone who heard or saw anything unusual in that area overnight on Monday to get in touch with us.
"We are contacting firms nearby to put them on alert and would advise companies to review their security in the light of this raid. Our patrols will obviously pay attention to the area but we need anybody who spots anything suspicious to call us at the time."
Anyone with information should call PC Squires on 101, quoting incident reference 77-S-010512, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
