A CHARITY football match is being held in Alvechurch to raise money to help a young girl continue her fight against Leukaemia.

Katie Pritchard was diagnosed in May last year with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and has been battling the illness since.

The 11-year-old, who was also born with Down Syndrome, receives seven different forms of chemotherapy and will now undergo a bone marrow test later this month.

Her father Iain works for Dixons, part of Countrywide West Midlands, which is holding a football match at the home of Alvechurch Football Club on Redditch Road to help Katie and her family get the funds they need to continue her treatment. They have raised just over £2,500 so far but hope to reach £10,000.

The match takes place on April 29 and kicks off at 2.30pm and will see Wolves Allstars play against a team made up of staff from Dixons and Bairstow Eves Estate Agents.

The event will also include family-fun activities such as a half-time penalty shoot out, a bouncy castle and cheerleaders.

Tickets cost £3 or £1 for concessions.
