A FOSTER carer from Redditch has been awarded for her dedication to caring for vulnerable young people in Redditch.

Sue Rowe, who has been fostering for five years, was presented with a long service award by Foster Care Associates (FCA) Midlands.

The 58-year-old said: “Fostering is something I had been thinking about for many years.

"Fostering a young person with complex needs can be challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding to see hard work come to fruition. Watching their confidence grow and seeing improvements in their health and social skills makes you realise you’ve done a good job."

Peter Battram, FCA Midlands area manager who presented Sue with the award, praised both Sue and her family for their commitment to fostering.

"Sue is enthusiastic and compassionate and faces challenges with integrity. Sue has a really supportive family and they work as a team with FCA staff to form the best solutions for the children and young people in their care," he said.

FCA is an independent fostering agency who pride themselves on welcoming single, same sex and cohabiting couples from all ethnic backgrounds who want to make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

Anyone interested in fostering children in the Midlands should call FCA on 0800 023 4561 or visit www.iwanttofoster.com for more information.
