Laughterhouse Comedy Show, Redditch Palace Theatre
Thursday, February 23
THE INAUGURAL Laughterhouse Comedy Show was billed as 'the very best in live comedy' and it certainly lived up to expectations.
The event saw master compère Chris Cairns seamlessly providing laughs while introducing the three other comedies. He really got the audience cheering and proved why he is so popular at these kinds of events.
Paul Tonkinson, who many will remember from The Big Breakfast and The Sunday Show, was the first act up and provided an insight in to life with his Northern wife.
Andrew Lawrence was the next star up, fresh from appearances on Dave's One Night Stand, Stand Up For The Week and Live At The Apollo. His set also focused around domestic life and comedy tour experience and he again proved a big hit with the audience.
But the undoubted star of the show was headline act Tom Stade, a Canadian who co-wrote and starred in Frankie Boyle's Tramadol Nights. The audience was laughing almost as soon as he got on stage and never really stopped, with his crowd interaction only adding to the humour.
The beauty of the night was there was something to raise a smile from everyone in the crowd, but Tom's appeal was apparent as he got the biggest cheer of the night.
Future Laughterhouse nights should not be missed for anyone looking for a laugh-a-minute, feel-good night out.
