A MAN has been charged with stealing more than 600 drain covers worth over £155,000 from roads across North Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands.

The 26-year-old, from Studley, faces ten charges of stealing 628 drain covers from locations including Redditch, Bromsgrove, Nuneaton, Shirley, and Studley between November 30 last year and January 12.

He is also charged with converting criminal property, namely drain covers, by selling them for a cash payment of £428 contrary to the Proceeds Of Crime Act. That offence is alleged to have taken place at Kingswinford on January 12.

The man has been released on police bail and is due to appear before Redditch Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, March 20.
