A GREAT night was enjoyed by all recently when Redditch Cricket Club staged a fund-raising dinner to honour Richard (Dick) Biddle's 50 years of service to the club.
During this loyal dedication to the Bromsgrove Road outfit, Dick has held several posts including first and second team captain, club steward and groundsman.
Dick was presented with a Crystal Rose bowl and a silver salver as more than 90 present and past players enjoyed the evening, for which the guest speaker was former Warwickshire and England all-rounder Dougie Brown, who is now assistant coach at the Bears.
A charity auction was held, for which the chosen beneficiary was Coventry Acorns Children's Hospice, and an excellent sum of £1,250 was raised as those in attendance bid for lots including an England cricket shirt signed by Ian Bell and a prestigious Warwick Racecourse package.
