A MISSING ring has been returned to its rightful owner after being mistakenly put in a charity collection box.

The Standard reported last month (December) how Redditch Round Table had found the jewellery in one of its tins.

After reading our story Feckenham Road resident Mary Seaman was prompted to search for the ring she had owned since the 1970s.

Mrs Seaman told the Standard she had put the ring down after finding it was too big for her finger and her husband Frederick had moved it into a dish with their spare change which was later donated to the Round Table.

“I did not realise it had gone until I read the article in the Standard. I am very happy to be reunited with it,” she added.

A Round Table spokesman said: “Thanks to the Redditch Standard, we are pleased to have found the owner of a gold ring which was handed to Redditch Round Table during our annual Christmas collections in December.

“As a charity, we rely on generous donations from Redditch residents, so when we came across the ring in one of our boxes we were keen to get it back to the owner as we were sure it had been handed in by mistake.”
