FORMER pupils can share their school days memories to help celebrate Alcester Grammar School’s centenary.

Past pupils and staff have formed a Centenary Celebration group and are hoping to attract more members.

They will be instrumental in organising special events to mark the occasion including the main celebration evening on Saturday, September 29.

Despite reaching the ripe old age of 100, the school is using modern methods to track down alumni and has set up a Facebook page - found at www.facebook.com/AGSalumni - which will feature updates.

The celebration evening will feature a vintage themed tea party in the afternoon with tours of the school, music and sports showcase and a museum of memorabilia.

It will be followed by a black tie Centenary Ball with a reception, gala dinner, auction and a live band performance.

A spokeswoman for the school said: “We are hoping to trace as many former students and teachers as possible, especially as so many former students still live in Alcester or the surrounding villages.”

Tickets for the ball will be on sale soon at alumni@alcestergs.com and by calling 01789 762494 on Tuesday or Wednesday.
