SINGERS and musicians of all ages and abilities are being sought to join a new type of music group.

Run by Redditch Arts Centre Steering Group and held at Abbeydale Community Club on the second and fourth Fridays of every month, the sessions are aimed at people who would like to perform in small groups to improve their skills or gain experience of playing with other people while having fun.

The sessions have been running since September and have already attracted a number of players ranging from mandolin and guitar to harmonica and saxophone. The group is currently looking for people who would like to sing as well as some younger members.

Professional music tutor Keith Kerans oversees the group and arranges pieces of music so players of all abilities can join in.

“It is a big step for a player to go from solo lessons and practising at home to playing with other people but it is very rewarding and leads to a definite improvement in playing skills. We are happy to play almost any type of music from medieval love dirges through bluegrass and ‘60s classics to modern originals.”

For more information contact Keith Kerans on 01527 25812 or email keith-k@blueyonder.co.uk or call Tony James on 07786 418513.
