A BRAND new supermarket, which launched in Droitwich this week, has checked in a new store manager.
Aldi, on Roman Way Retail Park, was officially opened by the new store manager, David Evans, yesterday (Thursday) as he embarked on his first senior managerial position.
Having joined Aldi in 2006 as an assistant store manager at one of Aldi’s Birmingham stores, David has proved himself as an exceptional team leader at a number of Aldi branches, including the Brierley Hill store where he worked for two years.
The 28-year-old, who is originally from Birmingham, is now preparing to move to the area with his wife.
He said: “I am delighted to take on the role of store manager here in Droitwich.
"I’m really looking forward to the challenges of opening and running a brand new store and welcoming customers through the door to reveal our spectacular concept store, with its spacious layout.
Leila MacGarrow, Aldi area manager, added: “We are very excited to have David running Aldi’s brand new store in Droitwich.
"He has demonstrated excellent managerial skills during his time with Aldi, so we’re confident he’ll do very well here.
“We have also appointed a number of local people for various positions at the store.”
The first 100 customers who entered the store received a golden ticket to claim open day gifts, which included luxury chocolates, a portable DVD player, a digital TV recorder, a digital camera and an LCD TV.
Shoppers were also given the chance to sample a variety of food.
