PROJECTS carried out by a Bromsgrove construction company have picked up prestigious awards.
Weaver plc, a construction company specialising in new build and refurbishment, saw two of its projects gain recognition at the 2007 Built in Quality Awards, run by Staffordshire District Building Control.
The company's new loading bay and retail extension for Aldi Stores in Lichfield came top in the 'under £1 million commercial category', while its £1.8 million design and build project for Fresh Space Developments of 31 residential apartments in Heath Hayes, was highly commended.
Built in Quality awards recognise excellence in supplying and managing information, compliance with building regulations, correcting faults and site environment. The scheme aims to strengthen relationships between contractors, tradesmen, architects and building control departments as well as encouraging a consistent level of quality on sites.
Steve Hudson, general manager director at Weaver, said it was a great boost to morale to receive awards which recognise the quality of management and workmanship carried out by the company's team.
"Each of these projects presented their own particular challenges," he said.
"The site in Heath Hayes was a complete design, build and commission of a residential development requiring the precise and timely coordination of a range of disciplines, including utilities.
"Work at the Aldi store in Lichfield was carried out while the company continued its very busy retail operation, which required detailed emphasis on regular communication between site, the retail manager and the building control department, plus the management of essential safety issues for the public using the store."
Weaver has previously received Built in Quality Awards from Wychavon District Council, and two from Malvern Hills District Council and Birmingham City Council.
Mr Hudson added: "It is a testament to the effort we put in that this is our third Built in Quality award for our work for Aldi Stores Ltd and this further strengthens our longstanding relationship."
Steve Hudson is more than happy to receive the company's award. (s)
