A LOCAL drama group celebrating its 60th anniversary year is staging Richard Harris's excellent comedy drama Outside Edge next weekend.
The performances by Alvechurch Dramatic Society take place from Thursday to Saturday, May 8-10.
Outside Edge is set in the 1980s in a cricket pavilion. Roger has enough trouble assembling his cricket team to play against the British Railways Maintenance Division Yeading East, but these complications pale into insignificance before those occurring between their various wives and girlfriends.
Bob has trouble with both wife and ex-wife, Alex’s girlfriend finds herself locked in the loo, whilst Dennis flirts indiscriminately with everyone - even Roger’s wife and champion tea-maker Miriam.
Then there is demon bowler Kevin’s match-threatening blister to contend with, not to mention his larger-than-life bricklaying wife!
Can Roger overcome these trials to win his precious game of cricket? Come along and find out - absolutely no knowledge of, or even interest in, cricket is required for this show.
Performances take place at Alvechurch Village Hall from 7.30pm each evening. Tickets at £6 (£4.50 concessions) are available from Alvechurch Post Office or by calling 0121 447 7071.
