  • Redditch is definitely not a hell-hole

    01 May 2008

I JUST had to respond to Mark Hill from Brockhill re his Redditch being a “hell-hole”.
My husband and I moved from the Manchester area after spending a happy 27 years in the same area where we were extremely happy and had no cause for complaint.
We moved due to my employer relocating me to Birmingham, and we did not know any of the areas where we were house hunting.
We had made some enquiries and found a number of properties we liked in the Redditch area and so visited Redditch centre on three occasions before deciding to buy and we were very impressed with the cleanliness, lack of trouble-seeking youths and graffiti in the town centre. We also stayed in a couple of different hotels and investigated various other facilities before we moved.
We have been in the area just short of a year and we have never experienced any of the people that Mark Hill describes, the people we have met have been friendly and welcoming, there are groups of youths as in any area, but Redditch is definitely not a hell-hole.
We find it pleasant to shop in and to eat out, also the surrounding areas are beautiful and easily accessible. We look forward to spending many more happy years here. We felt as a newcomer to the area we just had to redress the balance.
